About

Marwa Hamouda

I see psychotherapy as a tool used to facilitate change and facilitate personal growth. Whether clients are new to the therapy journey or seasoned, I offer a safe, non-judgmental and accepting environment where we can work together to help you navigate through life's challenges in order to achieve your best possible emotional wellness. There are many things we may discuss from issues of socialization, feminism, cultural messaging and beliefs to inter-generational experiences and their impacts on your life. Even though this all sounds serious, I can promise you there will always be room for laughter and fun.

I offer services in both English and Arabic to meet the diverse needs of my clients

My Journey

My path to psychotherapy began in medicine. As an internationally trained medical doctor, I discovered a deep passion for supporting the emotional and psychological well-being of my patients. Over time, this led me to pursue additional training and eventually become a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario. Today, I integrate my medical background with evidence-based therapeutic approaches to provide holistic, compassionate care.

Strengthening

Relationships

In my work with couples, I draw on the Gottman Method, a research-based approach that helps partners build stronger communication, repair emotional wounds, and restore trust and intimacy. I welcome couples at all stages of their relationship—whether you're looking to reconnect, strengthen your bond, or navigate conflict.

Community Engagement

Giving back to the community is a core part of my practice and personal values. I am actively involved with several community organizations that support immigrants, refugees, and newcomers, offering both volunteer services and free educational workshops to help individuals and families navigate the emotional and cultural challenges of resettlement.

Through this work, I aim to reduce barriers to mental health support by creating accessible, inclusive spaces where people can learn, share, and feel empowered. Whether it's through group sessions, parenting workshops, or mental health education, my goal is to foster resilience and connection within diverse communities.

Navigating New Beginnings

I am a Canadian Certified Perinatal Counsellor. Combining my personal experience as a parent with professional expertise in perinatal mental health. I support individuals and couples through the often overwhelming journey of pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood. I help clients navigate postpartum anxiety and depression, identity shifts, and the emotional complexities of new parenthood. I also facilitate groups and workshops for new parents, creating a sense of connection and support.

Support for Immigrants and Newcommers

As someone with international roots, I understand the emotional, cultural, and practical challenges that come with relocating to a new country. I provide culturally sensitive care for immigrants, refugees, and newcomers, helping them manage issues related to identity, belonging, intergenerational differences, and adapting to change.

Trauma Informed Care

I take a trauma-informed approach to therapy, which means I prioritize safety, trust, choice, collaboration, and empowerment in every aspect of my work. I recognize the deep and lasting impact trauma can have on a person’s emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. My goal is to create a supportive, non-judgmental space where clients feel seen, heard, and respected.

To support healing, I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities, tailored to each person’s needs.
